  • Learn from certified salsa instructors Hugo Badillo from Puerto Rico and Grace Badillo 1st generation New-Yorican.
  • Step by step instruction of the most important foundational movements that are usually ignored in other salsa instructional videos.
  • Our video contains  the 1,2,3,5,6,7 count bar during explanations and each step correlates to a number of the beat we are stepping to.  Learn how a step looks to each beat!

  • Learn similarities in certain combinations so you can better remember and retain many more patterns.
  • Learn styling that is elegant and beautiful.  Learn to make a move your own and not look like a cookie cutter image of someone else on the floor.
  • Learn how to lead your partner and not let your partner lead you.
  • Learn from instructors teach salsa and train others how to teach dance and communicate it effectively.
  • Our video contains valuable shoe information about buying dance shoes, why you need dance shoes, and how to take care of them so they will last for years.

Our Mission:

To our students and friends:

Why are we producing these Dance Instructional DVD's?  What are our goals?

  • To create a dynamic company that fills peoples lives with joy.  (Done!)
  • Release a dance video series out all over the world to finance a Global Mission to help the sometimes forgotten Latino poor and parentless. (Done!)
  • Start a campaign to match older foster children with families since they are hardly ever adopted.
  • To help other charities that need funding.
  • To provide supplies and money for the Orphans with Aids in Mexico. (Done!)
  • To Tithe of course (Continuous!)
  • To pay off our bills and hire my husband fulltime to work for Dancing With Grace Productions, Inc.
  • To help our family.
  • And if there is any $ left over buy a house on the beach, because "God Doesn't Make Anymore Beach Front Property!"
  • Retire and help others for the rest of our lives.

Why does your support matter?

The more videos we sell, the more $ we can donate to our cause.  We thank you for your support and are very excited to have a goal in life that will make a difference even when we are gone.....

Sincerely,

Grace and Hugo Badillo

Student Emails

Hi there Grace and Hugo,

I had the pleasure of taking my first real dance class ever with you last night at the Promenade.  I was very apprehensive at first because my husband is not as in love with dancing as I am, and therefore came partner-less.  I was pleasantly surprised to be met by two very down-to-earth, warm and truly talented teachers.  Your sense of humor broke the ice, and I soon felt at ease.  You both have a knack for breaking the steps down to an understandable level.  Being a teacher myself, I know how important feedback is, so this email is just to inform you that you guys are gems.  You have truly found your calling, and I'm glad for that...for selfish reasons .

I cannot wait until next Tuesday.  As a stay-at-home mother of three year old twins, I can assure you that this break is sorely needed!!!!

Thanks again,

KB

We get emails from our students all the time.  Send us your thoughts and possibly  have your email posted!  We care about what you think! Email us

Importance of Listening to the Music

If you want to be a great salsa dancer one of the things you need to do is develop an ear for the music. By listening and understanding the music you will be able to dance to it better. Listen to it, learn to hear the changes in the music from verse to chorus to breaks in the music and back to the verse.

Suggestions for when you can listen to it would be:

  • Getting ready to come to class Tuesday, Friday or Saturday nights.
  • While you make dinner, a real dinner, not McDonalds okay!
  • While Relaxing: What is that you ask? Whether its while you have a spot of tea or a small glass of wine sit back and relax for once!
  • Getting ready in the morning! Add some salsa to your mornings and put some pep in your step. Be careful and don't dance in the shower okay!
  • In the car while you are driving. Try not taking a cell phone, take a minute, and enjoy the moment and the music. You deserve it.

Salsa Music CD of the Month

Caminando
Ruben Blades

One of my favorite albums of salsa is by Ruben Blades. Former lawyer turned International Latin Music Star, Ruben Blades takes you away from the "clubby" salsa into a "smooth and unique style" of salsa. Most of you probably have never heard of Ruben Blades but I used his music in our intermediate class last Tuesday and Saturday. I thought that with so many fast paced salsas that make you sweat just thinking about dancing to them, its nice to hear an album that has slow paced salsas, medium paced salsas , a bomba/meringue, cha-cha-cha, and fast paced salsas salt and peppered throughout the album.

So I am giving you permission to buy yourself a gift for the salsera or salsero in you that is just waiting to come out and dance!

For more great salsa music CDs check our Salsa Music CDs web page.

1. Rueda Classes at Gardel’s w/ Barbara Bernstein, June 24 - July 29!

Yes, Rueda is here at Gardel’s for all to learn.  Every Saturday night for 6 weeks Barbara Bernstein and one of her assistants will be teaching Rueda at 8 and 9 o'clock.  For more information please go to www.DanceInTimeProductions.com

Hugo and I wanted our students to have the chance to learn Rueda and possibly dance in one of our rueda circles in the future!  Its not as hard as it looks and with Barbara teaching you Rueda's foundational movements you will be ready to enter a circle in no time at all.  If you are an intermediate salsa dancer you will love this and move quickly; if you are a beginner Barbara is wonderful at getting you through the class feeling like you accomplished enough to move forward!  Stay after the class and watch some rueda circles as students practice.  Come out and support Barbara Bernstein and when Hugo and I get back from resting a bit we will join your circle! Classes are $10 each.

If we have enough of a response we may use some of the student circles for a student showcase at Gardel’s in the future!

Since Barbara Bernstein will be teaching Rueda each Saturday night we are offering the Int/Adv salsa class on Friday Nights at 9 p.m. sharp. The Regular Salsa Schedule will resume in August on Saturday Nights.

2. Rescheduled: Latin Hip Movement & Partnering Workshop, June 3, 2006

Due to many emails sent to us that this workshop is being held on a weekend where many people are going to graduations and graduation parties we have decided to reschedule it to the fall.  If you have paid for this workshop we will give you a full refund.

Be on the look out in the future and if you are an engaged couple, or a father daughter team looking to do a salsa dance at your wedding please see our upcoming wedding workshop for couples on July 22, 2006 (see side bar in this newsletter for more information).

3. See Our Video Release Benefit Pictures!

Merrill with Mike and Ed with Yasmin

The Salsa Videos Release Benefit Party was filled with fantastic food, dancing, performances, prizes, humor and heart! For those of you who missed it we sure hope you check out our pictures in our photo gallery. Each person involved from the dancers to the guests made the night a complete success.  A huge thank you to each of those who contributed to this cause. We couldn't have done it without you! We were able to raise over $1,000.00 for the children!  Thank you for making a difference in the lives of others through your love for dance.  We look forward to doing other events and hopefully raising thousands of dollars for the needy in Baltimore and Beyond!

Casual, comfortable sweats or yoga pants, (preferably) salsa practice shoes (for turns and spins on a wooden dance floor). If you don't have salsa shoes, you can wear your evening dance. Tennis shoes will inhibit your spins and may ruin your knees over time. You can go to the DWG Store to see if you find something you like.  Or go on line and check out shoes like Supadance or International.  They can get pricy but make a world of difference when you dance.

Check out Grace's Shoe Clues Chapter in her Salsa With Grace Instructional Video so she can explain why you need good dance shoes, which should you buy first and how to take care of them! Purchase our Salsa Videos.

Promenade Dance Sport Facility is located on 2605 Lord Baltimore Drive.  For directions and more information click here.
