We Dance In America
"With Firm Reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence "

Happy Birthday
Hugo

Message to Our Students

Dear All,

Summer is over, but luckily we live in Florida so it still feels gorgeous as ever!

We accomplished a lot this summer including many fundraisers and sharing dance with the less fortunate. We raised money for African orphans, Guatemalan orphans, shared dance with our wheel chair bound veterans, taught the ladies of Ms. Bella that being beautiful is not skin deep, but within the heart, taught people how to dance and use it for good and so much more!

We are excited to announce our debut of Mercedes Janer, Director of Choregraphy for Dancing With Grace and welcome her and her husband Victor to our company. At this time we are elated to anounce that we are all believers in Jesus Christ and dance for good across the nation and world. To be equally yolked as a dance company is the greatest feeling I have ever felt professionally! I know we will do a lot of good in this community and want to love others through dance and help them understand that God is a lot cooler than most churches make Him out to be!

Happy Birthday to my husband Hugo Badillo. He is turning 400 in September LOL! Hugo is our amazing website GURU, Newsletter GURU, Music GURU, and dance instructor GURU! He is kind, loving, sweet, and funny. We have been married 9 wonderful years and I am blessed to call him my sweetheart! Don't forget to wish him a happy birthday in Septemeber!

In the last few months I have been part of some big events; I was the Creative Director and MC of the New Jersey International Salsa Congress, the Chair and MC of the Crown Ball for the Pasco/Hernando Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Lead Instructor for the Healing Hands Foundation Fundraiser in Washington DC and recent fundraiser last month in Baltimore, Maryland, and the Creative Director of the Berks Salsa Fest. Doing salsa for a reason is a blessing, and I want to thank everyone involved in all of these projects. They cannot be done alone and are part of a larger picture of kind, loving people that I am honored to work with.

God Bless You All & make sure to keep dancing with modesty out there no matter where you may go, be it the club, a party, a wedding or any other social situation. Try to be an example of goodness and kindness everywhere you go, even if you are the only one trying! Dancing doesn't have to be self worship; let dance be a self expression and a way for you to give joy to those around you! Be good and be safe!

Sincerely,

Grace and Hugo Badillo

Grace’s Salsa Tips

Grace's Salsa Tips

Tip #1: Lust: Have you ever noticed a lady's panty line or bottom when a skirt happens to fly up in the club? Have you ever noticed that "hot guy" that you can't take your eyes off of? Have you ever lusted for that person because of what you saw or did you turn away out of respect? Respect is a lost art. There was once a time where someone would rush to tell a female they were "showing the goods", but now people say nothing except "hey, look at her A**". Men and women, the next time you see someone or something really attractive, realize this is natural, but immediately look away and try not to focus intently; looking away immeidately will not only allow you to respect the person, but yourself and help you maintain your sexual integrity in the process. PS. Ladies, wear proper under garments.

Tip #2: Stop Lying: "Shhh. Don't tell anyone at the church that I am here." This is an all too familiar line I hear on a regular basis. Let me give you a clue people: If you have to hide that you are going dancing, you are at the wrong church. Any church that tells you dancing is a sin has not bibically studied what the word of God says about the subject. Please read, "Is Dancing A Sin?" article I wrote in prayer and with deep respect to the word of God and stop lying. No one, especially a church or pastor, should make you feel like you have to tell a lie.

Support Life - Oasis Pregnancy Center Does It!

Recently, we had a Family Fun Day fundraiser at Organic Life Coffee House: Dancing With Grace is a proud supporter, fundraiser and prayer warrior for Oasis: A Pregnancy Center in North Tampa. This center gives free pre-natal care to girls who find themselves pregnant and alone, uncertain if they want to terminate their pregnancy. After all of the hard work of so many volunteers, staff, and prayer warrirors, Oasis did it! We raised enough money to purchase a sonogram machine so that these young girls can see their children! They are a life, not a blob of tissue, but a life with two eyes, two feet, two hands and a soul. BRAVO to everyone who worked so hard to achieve this goal.  5. Is Dancing A Sin?

Have you ever wondered if dance is a sin? Many of us have been taught about God (the creator of Heaven & Earth). What does He say about Dance? To read Grace's article, "Is Dancing A Sin" click here:

Grace would love to know your opinion. Email her at grace@dancingwithgrace.com

Testimonials about our instruction and emails I received about this article:

My name is B and I attended the Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced level workshops that you were gracious enough to give at the University of Tampa this past weekend. I have lived in Tampa all of my life and have been dancing salsa for just shy of 10 years.  Salsa is what I call my long lost love. Growing up in a family that has no Latin background and little of the culture, I spent my childhood mesmerized by what I called the "bongo beat", only to learn later in my twenties that it had a name -and that was Salsa.  Since then Salsa has become and always will be very dear to my heart as it is something that I have loved all of my life but was introduced to it only a few years ago.

I started learning here in Tampa and have been blessed to grow enough in it to dance socially. In the beginning, dancing was so enjoyable and  I felt as though I was finally in place where I belonged. It was what I thought was an excellent way to meet others and really participate in what most lyrics in salsa encourage- the celebration of life, freedom and loved ones.  A few years ago, however, the vibe in Tampa changed and it became more of a "show down" than it was just enjoyment of  the music and the dance. For me, where I used to be a very liberated dancer, I became very self conscious because it seemed that I was not "eligible" to dance with anyone unless I danced at a certain level. What was once enjoyable became extremely intimidating and it started to show in my dancing.  For that reason, it has been almost 5 years since I have danced socially and it has been such a sore spot because salsa is such a part of me that  I have had to ignore a huge part of who I am for so long.

Coming to your workshop was the first time in a long time . I must tell you that it was HUGELY REFRESHING not only to be back in the rapture of salsa but to hear  you speak of modesty. In your class, I instantly felt at home and that I did not have to be ashamed to let salsa manifest in me the way God designed. Before your class, I had convinced  myself that I was not "good enough" to dance salsa because I didn't dance at the level of other dancers. It was such a blessing to learn from you and be reminded that God's goodness is in everything and He placed you and your team in my path to go back to doing one of the many I know is in my heart...Salsa. Thank you for your presence, your blessing of reminded modesty and encouragement. If more instructors placed emphasis on modesty and the true essence of Salsa, multitudes of more people would have the chance to experience and know just how truly wonderful salsa is. Thank you for inspiring me to come back out of my shell and go back to doing what I love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely,

B

Dear Grace,

Wow! I am convinced that you have a mission from God.  He places each one of us in strategic places to reach out to individuals that otherwise would not hear of Him.  You are destined for something big and many will join in.  What a strategic tool! God goes beyond our imagination.  Just trust Him and let's continue to promote, advertise, invite, spread the word.  This is big and will be huge.  All the glory goes to Him. Yesssssss!

S

Hi Grace-

I loved your article on dancing.   I grew up being told it was a sin…so I was prohibited from dancing.   So guess what I wanted to do most of my life?  Yep!

BTW…Is there a sinful form of dancing?…of course.   And there is a sinful form of eating, driving cars, watching TV, recreating etc.

I loved your take on the issue.   Thanks for sharing what you’ve learned and experienced.

As a Baptist Minister, and Christian radio Talk show host I now enjoy dancing with my wife…and I DON’T CARE anymore what the legalists say.

Neil
PS  I’m not much of a dancer…but it’s fun, and I hate the fact that the enemy tried to steal it from God’s people.  Well, I am committed to taking it back!
