"Making a Positive Impact on American Society"

Message to Our Students

Enjoying Everyday Life!

Rushing around like a chicken with your head cut off takes all the joy out of life. Constantly being connected to a phone, computer, & PDA, will not only drain the battery out of your toys but inevitably drain you! So why do we do this to ourselves? Isn't the intent of technology supposed to help us work less? Yes it is, but unfortunately, it has become the opiate of the masses and we are constantly adding more to our plate than we should.

One of the reasons we love to teach dance is because we notice how the stresses of our students starts to fade away in the first 5 minutes of class (notice, they are all without phones/PDAs) and then we start to see the giggles & smiles coming from adults that had once forgotten how to enjoy life as if they were children again.

If the stresses of the world & all of your commitments make you feel like you are being pulled in 50 directions, our advice to you is to learn to say "no" gently & with kindness. "No, I have another commitment" and it just may be a commitment to yourself to sit & vegetate or go to your favorite place on earth to dance!

My husband and I believe that life is a gift from God & that he doesn't want you to rush around & be overcommitted but to enjoy your everyday life so that you may live it in abundance. To find out more about what Grace does in her every day life to live it to the fullest click on How Grace Enjoys Everyday Life in "Articles" page in our website.

Sincerely,
Grace, Hugo & The DWG Team

Mahzari Sulek

Mahzari Sulek is one of our students who takes private lessons every single Friday with Grace/Hugo. His excitement for dance is so addictive & wonderful to be around that we asked him to dinner last week after class. He also was the first student to read the article about our company in Dancer Magazine & happened to see my tears of joy after reading it. This was very special to me.

He doesn't dance to win a popularity contest or be well liked but because it makes him feel alive, happy, & encouraged in a world that can sometimes makes you worry about all the little things that don't matter. Mahzari, on the other hand, has the heart of a giant, is kind, generous, gentle & dances with "Grace". He also loves America & has made it his home sweet home just like us!

Thank you Mahzari for adding joy to our lives by being our student and showing us that there are dancers that dance for the sheer love of it and not of themselves.

Bravo to you!

Sincerely,
The DWG Family

Grace's Salsa Tips

Grace Salsa Concept

Tip #1: Shoe Clues: Ever take your shoes off and smell something "funky"? This is quite normal everyone; our feet sweat. There is a new product out called "Dr. Scholl's Odor Destroyer Shoe Spheres" that you put in your shoes overnight and it takes care of odor for an entire month! I cant wait to use them. For a dancer, it might last for 3 weeks, but I am hearing good things about it. They only cost $6-8 depending on what drugstore you get them. Try them and tell me what you think, but please no shoes in my face okay.

Tip #2:Recently a friend who hadn't been to class in months went dancing (last Saturday night). She quickly told the man who asked her to dance "I am a beginner" for fear that she would be tossed around like a rag doll. As they began to dance, he said "You lie! You aren't a beginner!" Ah-ha! So True. Gentlemen, when women say they are beginners it's a gentle way of saying "take it easy on me, I am a bit nervous". So be gentle. Some of our ladies are delicate flowers that need compassion and know the next time you hear this to take it easy on your partner.

Thursday Whispers Classes Update

The classes are small 5-12 people each, where you can gain a lot of personal attention. The floor is incredible and we really want to build this location up but if you come at 10 on a night where people work early the next day you will be disappointed. If you aren't going to take the class at least try to be there by 9:15 so that the people who take the class will stay and dance okay?

Congratulations To Our DWG Student of The Month!

Mahzari Sulek

Mahzari Sulek gets the Bravo Award and Student of The Month Award For being such a wonderful and dedicated student of all the dances, including salsa and Bachata! Way to go Mahzari! Please read the side bar, Bravo Award to hear all about why Mahzari is Student of The Month!

Grace is at Whispers Thursday Evenings with Antonio and doing all day private lessons from 1-9 pm Fridays, Saturday Choreography trainings from 4-6 at Gardels and then she goes home and passes out from exhaustion to rest up for Hispanic Heritage Month which sends both Grace and Hugo to many corporate locations to do demonstrations, shows and lessons from Sept - Nov. She is still around but is promoting Gardels and staying at Whispers Thursday to make it grow since she loves the location so much and the classes are different, tailored to teach you how to dance to two different kinds of Latin Music. She hopes to see you at Whispers but remember come ealry and they will keep the music on longer.

Congratulations to Susan Leiter who had a very successful event at Redwood Trust on August 25, 2007.

2. Men's Salsa Technique & Styling Workshop on October 6th

Hugo's Men Salsa Technique & Styling Workshop

It's that time gentlemen; time to brush up on your lead and body movement technique. Come join Hugo and participate in Men's Salsa Technique & Styling Workshop. Hugo's workshops are filled with a wealth of excellent technique and styling information. Not only he demonstrates each dance movement, but Hugo has the ability of breaking these movements down in an easy to follow step-by-step manner (a skill which only a few salsa instructors in the world seem to be capable of doing). Every dance movement is broken down according to the "On 1" timing. Styling moves are added once students have mastered the basic principles behind the step. Occasionally, some dance steps have more than one variation to them. When this is the case, Hugo or one of the other DWG instructors will execute these variations and let their students decide for themselves which version fits their style. Gentlemen, no worry's there will be enough ladies for you to dance with. Ladies Signup for Workshop

IMPORTANT Note to Ladies: Ladies, if you are interested in attending this workshop you can do so for a minimum dance floor fee of $5 per hour. Even though this workshop is focused on men, ladies can take advantage of a lot of information and technique that is required for women including musicality, following, balance, and spinning in addition to the amount of practice you will get out of this class. Ladies will need to have experience dancing to medium-to-fast music and know the cross body lead with turn. To signup please email Hugo at hugo@dancingwithgrace.com.

8. Testimonials

Grace, I don't think I've said this yet, but I can't thank you, Hugo, and the other instructors enough for what you have done for me. I have grown up again and found a life-long love in salsa. I never thought I could call myself a SALSA WARRIOR (lol), but I am proud to be one.

Thanks again! Take care and God Bless,
M.D., Salsa Warrior!

9. Good Deeds

Grace and Hugo's Choice For Good Deeds of the Month are for those who consider marriage to be a sacred and wonderful institution that should be promoted and protected. When Hugo asked me to marry him I asked him "what are we going to do to avoid divorce?" Since so many people divorce, I wanted to know what we would do to not be a statistic! We found a wonderful ministry named "Family Life" who teach thousands of couples and families how to have a happy marriage by teaching couples what love is, how to communicate with each other with respect and how to deal with marriage and children at the same time! Since we have been married we have attended 3 of these workshops and believe every single couple should minister to their spirits and marriage through Family Life. They taught us so much and remarried us at the end! We have been married a total of 3 times already! Ha ha! To donate to this wonderful group that makes a difference in the lives of so many American families go to www.familylife.com or just plan to take the workshop yourselves! It's worth every penny!
